Online Advanced Exploration

Introductory Advanced Exploration

This program begins with Introductory Advanced Exploration which provides students with the fundamental understanding of concepts, processes and vocabulary to work productively with our instructors both in the studio and online. In addition, the introductory class will teach students how to set up for projects and manage their own studio space. Upon completion of the introductory class, students may enroll in any Online Advanced Exploration program to set goals, create projects of their own design and grow to become independent artists. Teachers provide guidance and individualized demonstrations to help students achieve their specific goals.

Continuing Advanced Exploration

This series of five classes is for students ages 11-18 who have completed the Introductory Advanced Exploration projects offered in our studio or online. As in our studio classes, emphasis on personal responsibility and warm up exercises to enhance technical, conceptual, observation, intuitive processes will also be the goal of our online classes. Students must provide their own materials. A sketchbook will be required. Our teachers are prepared to teach both two dimensional and sculpture online, but individualized demonstrations are only two dimensional at this time.

Weekly (one day per week) and daily (week-long) options are available.

Supplies Information

Quality art materials of good value have been specially selected for these classes because we know better supplies and tools improve the outcome of art making. Limited palettes of specific colors teach color mixing and are preferred over a palette with many colors. Our colored pencil selection provides the unique practice of layering and pressure control to blend and is preferred over softer colored pencils that mimic the practice of using soft chalk pastels to blend.

Listed below are the required supplies plus a number of choices and brands from the Marvegos Store, Blick and Amazon. You may purchase the recommended art supplies and kits from the Marvegos Store and sign up for Curbside Pickup to obtain the supplies before the first class. If you prefer to purchase supplies from a different store, please allow up to 3 weeks to acquire the needed art materials. If you purchased these supplies before or have these supplies at home, no need to purchase again.
