2019-2020 School Year: Advanced Exploration

Advanced Exploration students are learning about themselves through art-making and focus on conceptualizing ideas around their own interests. Teachers start off most classes with a quick warm-up to get creativity flowing. Warm-ups range from simple 1-2-3 minute gesture sketches and values studies to imagining who their alter ego might be or thinking about how art benefits society. These warmups go into sketchbooks so students should bring one to every class. We also have demonstrations planned throughout the year that will introduce students to new techniques, art processes and media. Check out the studio Parent Board to find out what your child’s warmup will be for the day.

New Advanced Exploration students will begin with five preliminary projects designed to teach them how to develop their own ideas into fully formed projects.

Beginning Digital Art Workshops will be offered to Advanced Exploration age kids throughout the school year.
