Exhibit Interview Guide

Here are some things we may ask your child to share with us during the interview:

Introduction

• First name only
• Title of artwork
• Age when the artwork was completed

Talking About the Artwork

• Materials used (paint, pastels, charcoal, printmaking, sculpture, collage, mixed media, etc.)
• What is shown in the artwork
• Inspiration behind the piece (observation, imagination, still life, story, memory, etc.)
• How the artwork was created
• Steps taken during the process
• Special art words, techniques, or challenges discussed during class

Challenges and Memorable Parts

• Difficulties with materials or techniques
• Favorite or most enjoyable parts of creating the artwork

Other Questions to Consider

• How did you choose this piece for the exhibit?
• How did you choose the title?
• Is there anything you would like viewers to notice or understand about the artwork?
