Focused Classes

In our focused art classes, students dive into the areas of art that inspire them most. Each project includes goals that provide direction, build confidence, and support personal growth. With guidance from a dedicated instructor, students explore composition, form, and technique while building skills and creating original works to be proud of.

No prior art experience is necessary, but because the instruction is more concentrated, a genuine interest in the topic will help students get the most out of the experience.

Policies for Focused Classes

  • Commitment Required: No make-ups will be offered for focused classes. Please be sure your child can commit to this multi-week program before registering.
  • Minimum Enrollment: Focused classes require a minimum number of students. If a focused class is cancelled due to low enrollment, a full refund will be issued.

This class is currently offered only at our San Mateo studio, but we hope to expand this class to other locations in the future.

Life Drawing

Ages 12+

Life Drawing: Structure & Anatomy

This class introduces students to the fundamentals of figure drawing and the human form. Through gesture, anatomy, and form studies, young artists learn to see the body from different perspectives and build the skills to create more natural, realistic figures. In some sessions, students will also have the exciting opportunity to draw from a live (clothed) model, gaining first-hand experience in observing the proportions and presence of an actual person.

Some handouts may include artistic references of the unclothed figure for study purposes. All materials will be provided.

Session 4: March 31 – May 19, 2026

Tuesday 5:50pm

Life Drawing: The Figure in Space

This class builds on foundational figure skills and explores how the human form exists in space. Students focus on perspective, foreshortening, and how fabric drapes and folds over the body. Through observational studies, artists learn to create figures that feel dimensional and dynamic. For the strongest foundation and best experience, we recommend taking Life Drawing: Structure & Anatomy first. In some sessions, students will also have the exciting opportunity to draw from a live (clothed) model, gaining first-hand experience in observing the proportions and presence of an actual person.

Some handouts may include artistic references of the unclothed figure for study purposes. All materials will be provided.

Digital Art

Ages 12+

Our Digital Art classes teach students how to create drawings and paintings on their own iPads using Procreate. Lessons cover a variety of tools, brushes, and techniques while guiding students to develop both foundational skills and artworks that reflect their creative voice. Small class sizes ensure plenty of personalized instruction and support.

Students who are new to digital art or who have not had formal class experience should register for Beginning Digital Art. If you’re unsure which class is the best fit, please email info@marvegos.com. We may ask for samples of your child’s artwork to guide placement.

What to Bring to Class:
